SCLS has two staff attorneys that are primarily dedicated to the practice of family law. They provide direct and indirect services to clients. In addition, SCLS provides numerous family law legal clinics.
Family Law Clinic
Once a week, three volunteer attorneys staff our Family Law Advice Clinic and provide legal advice, review pro se-prepared documents, and assist clients with preparation of motions and other court documents during a 45-60 minute evening appointment with each client. Although the majority of the work done by volunteer attorneys is advice and counsel, the volunteer attorneys may on occasion use the clinic time to provide brief services by drafting legal documents or letters for the client at the clinic.
Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County Clinic
Once a month, one of our family law staff attorneys provides an educational presentation, followed by individual consultations with clients. This clinic primarily assists victims of domestic violence. The clinic is located at the Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County facility.
YWCA Pathways for Women Legal Clinic
SCLS has a part-time volunteer attorney who is located in Lynnwood. The volunteer attorney provides direct and indirect legal services for clients. In addition to the volunteer attorney, one of our family law staff attorneys meets with clients twice a month at this location. Clients are able to receive an hour long appointment with the staff attorney.
Twice a month, one of our family law staff attorneys provides instruction and an educational presentation of the divorce process in Snohomish County. Clients are provided the initial paperwork that is needed to file a divorce action. Clients will not receive legal advice specific to their individual case at this class.
